AI Clip Makers for Podcasts: Which Tools Find the Best Moments?
By Kris Reid ·
An AI clip generator for podcasts scans an episode’s transcript and video, picks moments it predicts will hold attention, then reframes them vertically and adds captions. For real estate agents, the built-in Magic Clips in Riverside and Create Clips in Descript cover most needs; OpusClip and Klap suit high volume. None of them knows which moments are accurate or compliant, so review each clip.
This article compares the tools on what they cost and what you can control, checked on each vendor’s pricing page on October 14, 2026. Which moments are worth clipping in the first place is an editorial call about your audience, and it’s a separate question from which software cuts them.
What is the best AI clip generator for podcasts?
The best AI clip generator for a podcast is the one attached to where your video already sits, because it reuses the transcript and the separate camera tracks. Standalone clippers earn their fee when you post every day or clip other formats too.
| Tool | Free plan, as listed Oct 2026 | Paid plans, as listed Oct 2026 | Useful controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riverside Magic Clips | Included on Free (720p, watermark) | Pro $29 monthly or $24/mo annually | Focus speaker or keywords, duration, layout, saved brand presets |
| Descript Create Clips | Limited AI use, 60 media min/mo | Hobbyist $24 monthly or $16/mo annually | Edit the clip by editing its transcript |
| OpusClip | 60 credits/mo, watermark, no editing, 3-day export window | Starter $15/mo (monthly only); Pro $29 monthly or $14.50/mo annually | Clip length, timeframe, reprompting, Virality Score |
| Klap | Not listed | Basic $14/mo billed yearly (100 clips/mo); Pro $39/mo billed yearly (300 clips) | Priced per clip generated |
| Podsqueeze | Not listed | Starter $8.99/mo (8 clips or audiograms); Pro $49/mo (20) | Clips come with show notes and transcript |
| Castmagic | Not listed | Hobby $29 monthly or $19/mo annually | Captioned vertical clips plus written content |
A note on the cheapest plans: OpusClip’s pricing page says free-plan clips “will no longer be exportable” after 3 days and carry a watermark, which makes the free tier a trial rather than a workflow. Riverside’s free plan includes Magic Clips but records at up to 720p with a Riverside watermark, per its pricing page. Klap’s page showed yearly prices; we couldn’t confirm its monthly rates.
How do AI clip makers decide which moments to cut?
AI clip makers read the transcript, look for a complete thought with a strong opening line, and score it on predicted engagement. OpusClip shows this as a “Virality Score”; Riverside says its AI “only selects the highlights and engagement-worthy parts” of a video.
That scoring is useful for finding candidates fast. It’s blind to three things a real estate agent cares about: whether the statement is still true, whether it’s fair to the guest out of context, and whether it says anything a future client needs. A clip can score high because it’s a bold opinion about rates, which is exactly the kind of clip that ages badly.
What do AI clip tools miss on a real estate interview?
AI clip tools miss context, compliance and accuracy, because none of those affect an engagement score. On a real estate show, those gaps can turn a good clip into a problem.
- Stale numbers. “Rates just dropped to…” or “median price here is…” is true on recording day and wrong six weeks later, while the clip keeps circulating. Add the month on screen or skip the clip.
- Lost context. A guest’s caveat (“for a VA buyer with a big down payment…”) often sits just before the cut point.
- Neighborhood descriptions. A casual line about who lives in an area, clipped and captioned, is a published statement. Keep clips to homes, amenities and prices.
- Your brokerage name. Intros and outros, where you say it, are the first things a clipper trims. Add it as on-screen text in your brand template.
- Caption spellings. Street names, subdivisions and your guest’s company come out phonetically. Fix them in the transcript before clipping.
- The wrong face. Auto-reframing can follow the louder speaker and crop out the person making the point.
Apple’s content guidelines (section 1.12) bar using AI to “manipulate audio or video clips to present false narratives.” Normal trimming isn’t that, but a clip that cuts a guest’s caveat to reverse their meaning gets close. Check with your broker on how your firm reviews social clips.
When does an AI clip need a disclosure label?
An AI clip needs YouTube’s disclosure label when it includes realistic content that AI generated or meaningfully changed. Cutting, captioning and reframing your own recording doesn’t count.
YouTube’s disclosure rules list “AI generated extra footage of a real place” as an example that must be disclosed, and say minor edits such as audio repair, upscaling and background blur don’t need it. That matters if you use a clip tool’s AI B-roll feature (OpusClip Pro lists AI B-roll). A generated shot of a street, a skyline or “a home like this one” in your market is realistic footage of a real place. Use your own footage instead, or turn on the “AI use” setting in YouTube Studio. For listing footage rules, see our guide to real estate listing video.
How do you brief an AI clip tool for better results?
Brief an AI clip tool the way you’d brief a junior editor: tell it where to look, how long to cut, and what topics matter. The default “find viral moments” setting returns the loudest opinions.
- Set the timeframe. Skip the intro and the sponsor read so the tool only scans the conversation.
- Set a clip length. OpusClip and Riverside both let you choose duration; 30 to 60 seconds suits most vertical feeds.
- Give topic keywords. Riverside lets you focus on keywords or a speaker; OpusClip lets you reprompt. Try “closing costs,” “inspection,” “first-time buyer” or your town’s name.
- Pick the speaker. If the guest is the expert, focus clips on them.
- Apply a brand template. Logo, caption style, your name and brokerage as on-screen text.
- Fix the transcript first. Correct names and streets so captions are right on every clip at once. Our comparison of podcast transcription software covers which tools make that quick.
- Review every clip against the list above before it’s scheduled.
Which OpusClip alternatives are worth a look?
The OpusClip alternatives worth a look depend on why you’re leaving. For a cheaper all-in-one, Riverside or Descript give you clips alongside recording or editing; for pure per-clip pricing, Klap; for clips bundled with show notes, Podsqueeze or Castmagic.
Whichever you pick, the clips do the most when they point back to a full episode that’s easy to find. Our guide to YouTube SEO for real estate video podcasts covers titles, descriptions and chapters for the long version, and the AI podcast tools pillar covers the rest of the AI workflow, from editing to show notes.
If you’d rather not run a clip tool at all, a production team that cuts the promo clips from every episode you record takes the briefing and the review off your list, along with editing and publishing.

Frequently asked questions
Is OpusClip free?
OpusClip has a free plan with 60 credits a month as of October 2026, but clips carry a watermark, can't be edited and stop being exportable after 3 days. Starter costs $15 a month (monthly billing only) and Pro $29 monthly or $14.50 a month billed annually.
How long should a podcast clip be?
Most AI clip tools let you set the length. Thirty to sixty seconds suits Shorts, Reels and TikTok, long enough to set up a point and land it. Test two lengths for a month and keep the one your audience watches through.
Do AI clips hurt the full episode's views?
There's no published evidence that they do. Clips work as trailers: each one should point viewers to the full episode with a link in the description or a pinned comment, so the clip feeds the long version instead of replacing it.
