Real Estate Podcasts by the Numbers: The 2027 Ardor Study
By Kris Reid ·
Real estate podcast statistics from our October 2026 count: Podcast Index lists 12,065 real estate podcast feeds, and 1,904 of them published an episode in the 90 days to October 10, 2026. The median active show publishes six episodes per 90 days, at about 30 minutes each. Of the shows that stopped, 45.7% stopped before episode 10.
Other pages on this topic list famous shows or reuse whole-industry numbers. Ardor SEO counted every real estate show in the Podcast Index catalog and pulled episode data for 2,699 of them; the method and dates are below so anyone can check the work. For listener, platform and ad figures across all podcasts, see our podcast statistics hub.
What are the key findings?
The key findings: real estate podcasts are numerous, mostly dormant and short-lived, and the active minority publishes less often than most agents assume.
- 12,065 real estate podcast feeds exist in Podcast Index; 11,041 have at least one episode.
- 1,904 (17.2%) published in the 90 days to October 10, 2026; 1,510 (13.7%) in the last 30 days; 2,771 (25.1%) at some point in 2026.
- Podcasts overall are active at about half that rate: 9.4% by the same 90-day test, measured on the same snapshot.
- 45.7% of stopped real estate shows quit before episode 10, and 19.5% before episode 3.
- The median active show releases 6 episodes per 90 days, about one every two weeks. 31.8% publish weekly or more.
- The median active show averages 30.4 minutes per episode; the middle half run 19.6 to 42.5 minutes.
- 3.5% of active shows had any video file in their recent RSS episodes, while 37.3% had transcripts.
How was the study done?
The study counted shows in the Podcast Index catalog, the open podcast directory used by many podcast apps, in two pulls. The show-level pull used the full catalog file Podcast Index publishes each week, as described in James Cridland’s guide to data mining the Podcast Index (a 1.8 GB download containing every public feed). The copy we used is dated October 10, 2026 and holds 4,739,120 feeds. We used the file instead of keyword search because the search endpoint returns at most 60 shows per query, too few to count a whole niche.
The episode pull used the Podcast Index API on October 15, 2026. It fetched up to 200 recent episodes for every show active in the 90 days to October 10, plus a random sample of 800 inactive shows: 2,704 shows requested, 2,699 returned episodes, 189,467 episodes in total.
How was a “real estate podcast” defined?
A feed counted as a real estate podcast if it wasn’t flagged as a duplicate and met any one of four rules:
- Title says real estate (6,171 feeds): “real estate,” “realtor,” “realty” or “realestate.”
- Title uses an adjacent term (1,553 feeds): mortgage, landlord, house flipping, multifamily, rental property, property investing or management, home buying, housing market, short-term rental, commercial property or proptech. Music, fiction, comedy, kids and religion shows are excluded from this rule.
- Title uses a non-English term (928 feeds): Immobilien, immobilier, bienes raíces, vastgoed, imóveis, inmobiliaria, immobiliare and similar.
- Description only (3,413 feeds): the description says “real estate” or “realtor” at least twice and the main category is business, investing, entrepreneurship, careers, marketing, management or home. This catches agent shows named after the host.
As a check, we ran 15 real estate searches through the API. Of the 767 shows those searches returned, 87.4% were already in our list. Most misses were shows named after an agent whose title and description say little about real estate, so treat 12,065 as a floor.
What are the definitions and limits?
Active means the newest episode is dated within 30 or 90 days of October 10, 2026. Stopped means no episode in the 90 days before that date. Episode count is the number of episodes currently in the feed, which hosts sometimes trim. Launch year is the year of the oldest episode still in the feed.
The limits matter. Podcast Index only sees shows with an RSS feed, so YouTube-only shows are missing from every number. A keyword rule misses some shows and lets in a few that are only loosely about property. Video was measured only by the file type in the feed. Podcast Index does not record country, so the study reports language instead.
How many real estate podcasts are there?
There are 12,065 real estate podcast feeds in Podcast Index as of October 10, 2026. Of those, 1,024 contain no episodes at all, which leaves 11,041 shows that published at least once. The table compares the real estate niche with the whole catalog, using the same snapshot and the same activity test.
| Measure (Podcast Index, Oct 10, 2026) | Real estate podcasts | All podcasts |
|---|---|---|
| Feeds with at least one episode | 11,041 | 4,473,716 |
| New episode in the last 30 days | 1,510 (13.7%) | 326,810 (7.3%) |
| New episode in the last 90 days | 1,904 (17.2%) | 421,791 (9.4%) |
| Latest episode dated 2026 | 2,771 (25.1%) | 636,848 (14.2%) |
Podcast Index’s own public stats file reported 465,447 feeds with a new episode in the last 90 days when we checked on October 15, 2026, against 4,741,510 feeds in total. Its figure differs from ours because it was taken on a different day and counts every feed, including duplicates and empty ones. Either way, one podcast in ten is active, and our count of how many podcasts there are explains why totals and active counts differ so much.
How many real estate podcasts are still active?
About 1,900 real estate podcasts are still active, meaning they published in the 90 days to October 10, 2026. That’s 17.2% of the niche. Real estate shows stay alive at nearly twice the catalog rate, probably because many are business tools for agents, lenders and investors rather than hobbies.
The core group whose title literally says “real estate” or “realtor” does worse than the niche overall: 790 of 5,647 shows with episodes, or 14.0%, are active.
English dominates. It is the declared language of 89.9% of all real estate shows and 90.4% of active ones, followed among active shows by German (75 shows), French (42) and Spanish (34).
How often do active real estate podcasts publish?
Active real estate podcasts publish a median of six episodes every 90 days, roughly one every two weeks. Fewer than a third keep a weekly schedule. The count below uses episodes dated in the 90 days before the October 15 episode pull, for the 1,899 active shows that returned episodes.
| Episodes in 90 days | What it looks like | Active shows | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 or more | Daily or more | 32 | 1.7% |
| 14 to 59 | More than weekly | 206 | 10.8% |
| 11 to 13 | Weekly | 365 | 19.2% |
| 5 to 10 | Every week or two, uneven | 510 | 26.9% |
| 3 to 4 | About monthly | 310 | 16.3% |
| 1 to 2 | Once or twice a quarter | 450 | 23.7% |
| 0 | Last episode fell just outside the window | 26 | 1.4% |
Nearly a quarter of “active” shows published only once or twice in three months.
How long are real estate podcast episodes?
Real estate podcast episodes average about 30 minutes. The median active show’s typical episode runs 30.4 minutes, and the middle half of active shows run 19.6 to 42.5 minutes, based on each show’s median episode length across up to 200 recent episodes. Counted episode by episode, the median is 30.5 minutes. Stopped shows ran shorter: a median of 21.9 minutes in our sample of 800.
The newest episode of each active show gives a direct comparison with Buzzsprout’s platform stats for September 2026, which cover episodes published on that host across all topics.
| Episode length | Real estate, newest episode of 1,880 active shows (Oct 2026) | All Buzzsprout episodes (Sept 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Under 10 minutes | 11.8% | 20% |
| 10 to 20 minutes | 15.9% | 16% |
| 20 to 40 minutes | 39.5% | 31% |
| 40 to 60 minutes | 24.2% | 20% |
| Over 60 minutes | 8.7% | 13% |
Real estate shows bunch in the 20-to-60-minute range, the zone of interview and market-discussion formats, and run fewer very short or very long episodes than podcasts in general. Our guide to average podcast episode length turns these figures into lengths for each agent show format.
How many real estate podcasts use video, transcripts and chapters?
Few real estate podcasts put video in their RSS feed: 3.5% of active shows had at least one video file among recent episodes, and 1.1% were mostly video. Across all real estate shows, the newest episode is a video file for 5.1%.
Most video podcasts live on YouTube, which RSS directories can’t see, so this study undercounts video. For platform-level video figures, see our video podcast statistics.
Transcripts are far more common than video. 37.3% of active shows had a transcript linked in the feed for at least one recent episode, against 7.3% of stopped shows. Chapters were linked by 11.2% of active shows. Both are cheap to add and give apps and search engines text to work with; our guide to podcast transcripts for SEO explains how.
When do real estate podcasts stop?
Most real estate podcasts stop early. Among the 9,137 shows with no episode in the 90 days to October 10, 2026, the median feed holds 11 episodes. The table shows how far stopped shows got before going quiet.
| Stopped before reaching… | Share of stopped real estate shows |
|---|---|
| 2 episodes (only one episode) | 13.9% |
| 3 episodes | 19.5% |
| 5 episodes | 29.2% |
| 7 episodes | 37.5% |
| 10 episodes | 45.7% |
| 20 episodes | 62.7% |
| 50 episodes | 81.7% |
| 100 episodes | 89.4% |
Persistence separates the active group. The median active show has 59 episodes in its feed, against 11 for stopped shows. Across all 11,041 shows with episodes, 60.1% reached 10 episodes, 44.0% reached 20 and 24.7% reached 50.
When were real estate podcasts launched?
The most real estate podcasts launched in 2020, when 1,446 shows released their first episode. Launches have held between about 1,150 and 1,450 a year since, and survival falls steeply with age.
| Year of first episode | Shows launched | Still active (90 days) | Share active |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 592 | 38 | 6.4% |
| 2019 | 869 | 64 | 7.4% |
| 2020 | 1,446 | 139 | 9.6% |
| 2021 | 1,241 | 115 | 9.3% |
| 2022 | 1,422 | 148 | 10.4% |
| 2023 | 1,285 | 195 | 15.2% |
| 2024 | 1,165 | 266 | 22.8% |
| 2025 | 1,254 | 396 | 31.6% |
| 2026 (to Oct 10) | 705 | 450 | 63.8% |
Fewer than a third of the shows started in 2025 were still publishing in October 2026. Some older shows trim early episodes from their feeds, which can make them look younger, so the early years are approximate.
What do real estate podcast statistics mean for an agent?
Real estate podcast statistics show that the hard part of a show is not the launch but the second and third months. Nearly half of stopped shows quit before episode 10, and most of the active ones publish every other week or less. An agent who simply keeps publishing every week for a year publishes more consistently than about two-thirds of the active real estate shows.
The competition is also smaller than the total suggests: fewer than 2,000 real estate shows are active worldwide, and only a handful cover any single market.
If guest booking and editing are what usually stall a show, Icons’ production service books guests and edits and publishes each episode for real estate shows. Icons says it has produced 2,000+ episodes across 120+ agent podcasts. If you’d rather test the format before committing, practice your answers as a guest on the ICONS of Real Estate Podcast, which costs nothing.
